About
Dr. Yehia "Mo" Saif is an internationally recognized expert in avian medicine, particularly known for his extensive research on enteric and respiratory diseases of poultry. Born in Egypt in 1934, he earned his DVM from Cairo University in 1958 before moving to the United States to pursue graduate studies at The Ohio State University, where he earned his MS and PhD degrees. He spent the entirety of his distinguished academic career at The Ohio State University, eventually serving as the head of the Food Animal Health Research Program and as an assistant dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout his career, he has been a pivotal figure in avian pathology, notably serving as the editor of the standard reference text, "Diseases of Poultry," and as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Avian Diseases" until 2023. His research, which includes over 40 publications on infectious bursal disease and the development of the world's first specific-pathogen-free turkey flock, has significantly advanced the field of poultry health. He retired as Professor Emeritus in 2013 and continues to be honored for his decades of service to the veterinary community.
