Dr. Rüdiger Hauck is an Associate Professor at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, holding a shared appointment in the Department of Pathobiology and the Department of Poultry Science. He earned his DVM, PhD, and Habilitation from the Freie Universität Berlin in Germany. His academic career includes extensive postdoctoral research experience at the University of Georgia, the Institute of Poultry Diseases in Berlin, the German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, and the University of California, Davis. Dr. Hauck is a Diplomate of the European College of Poultry Veterinary Science (ECPVS) and is widely recognized for his expertise in avian infectious diseases and intestinal health. His research program at Auburn University focuses on the pathological, epidemiological, and immunological aspects of viral and bacterial diseases affecting commercial poultry. He has contributed significantly to the field through his work on pathogens such as Newcastle disease virus, Salmonella, and various enteric diseases. In addition to his academic research, he is a prolific author and contributor to veterinary manuals and textbooks, including works on bacterial and viral infections in poultry farming. He has received prestigious honors for his contributions to avian pathology, including the Bayer-Snoeyenbos New Investigator Award and the Karl-Fritzsche Award.
