Patrocinio Morrondo Pelayo is a distinguished veterinarian and academic currently serving as a Catedrática (Full Professor) of Animal Health at the University of Santiago de Compostela. With a deep background in biological and veterinary sciences, she has dedicated her career to the study of infectious and parasitic diseases in ruminants. Her academic journey began with degrees in Biological Sciences and Veterinary Medicine from the University of León, followed by a doctorate in Biological Sciences. Throughout her career, she has held significant teaching and research roles, including positions at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Lugo and the Rof Codina Veterinary Clinical Hospital, where she contributed to the Service of Parasitology Diagnosis. Her research focuses on the epidemiology and molecular characterization of pathogens, particularly those affecting livestock and wildlife. She has been instrumental in advancing the understanding of parasitic diseases such as cryptosporidiosis and coccidiosis, contributing extensively to both animal and public health. Her work is widely recognized through her involvement in competitive research groups and international collaborations.
