Dr. Maria E. Prado is a distinguished veterinarian and researcher specializing in food animal medicine, surgery, and bovine health. She earned her veterinary medicine degree (MV) from the University of Zulia in Venezuela in 1987 before relocating to the United States to pursue advanced clinical and academic training. She completed an internship in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery and Equine Theriogenology at Oklahoma State University (1993-1994), followed by a residency in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery (1995-1998). She achieved board certification in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM) in 2000. Dr. Prado furthered her academic credentials by obtaining a PhD in Veterinary Pathobiology from Oklahoma State University in 2003, complemented by a postdoctoral fellowship in Molecular Virology. Her extensive career includes significant contributions to veterinary education and research, particularly in the areas of bovine mastitis and respiratory disease. She served as a faculty member at the University of Tennessee for nearly two decades, where she was involved in both teaching and collaborative research. Her professional expertise is widely recognized, and she is the author of the book 'Bovine Mastitis' published by Edra Publishing, which provides a comprehensive review of the condition's pathophysiology, diagnosis, and control strategies.
