Dr. M. Katherine Tolbert is a board-certified veterinary internal medicine specialist and nutritionist currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at Texas A&M University. She is a prominent researcher in the field of small animal gastroenterology, with a clinical and research focus on acid-related disorders, gastrointestinal endoscopy, and the pathogenic mechanisms of feline Tritrichomonas foetus. Dr. Tolbert is a member of the Dog Aging Project consortium and has contributed extensively to veterinary literature, including over 100 peer-reviewed publications and numerous textbook chapters in authoritative resources such as the Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Dr. Tolbert earned her DVM from the University of Georgia and completed her PhD and small animal internal medicine residency at North Carolina State University. She further pursued an alternate-track residency in small animal nutrition at the University of Tennessee. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her contributions to the field, including receiving the Zoetis Award for Excellence in Veterinary Research. She remains dedicated to advancing clinical practices in gastroenterology and nutrition, frequently collaborating with practitioners and specialists to improve diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes for companion animals.
