Luisa De Risio is a distinguished veterinary neurologist and researcher, currently serving as the Global Director of Associate Research at Mars Veterinary Health. She is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN), a Fellow of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), and an RCVS and EBVS European Specialist in Veterinary Neurology. Her career is marked by significant contributions to the field of veterinary neurology, particularly in the study and management of epilepsy in companion animals. She is a founding member of the International Veterinary Epilepsy Task Force (IVETF), where she has served as Chair of the diagnosis working group and co-chair of the treatment working group. Prior to her current leadership role at Mars Veterinary Health, Dr. De Risio spent over a decade at the Animal Health Trust in the UK, where she served as Head of Neurology/Neurosurgery and later as Head of Clinical Research. She has held academic appointments, including as an Honorary Professor in Veterinary Neurology at Nottingham Trent University, and has been recognized for her commitment to veterinary education, holding a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Education and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. She is a prolific author and lecturer, having co-authored textbooks on canine and feline epilepsy and contributed extensively to peer-reviewed literature and continuing education programs globally.
