About
Dr. John Carr is a distinguished consultant swine veterinarian and academic who qualified from the University of Liverpool in 1982. Following five years in general practice, he completed a Leverhulme residency and a PhD focusing on urinary tract disorders in pigs at the University of Liverpool, where he specialized in microbiology and pathology. He is a Diplomate of the European College of Pig Health Management and is recognized by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a specialist in pig medicine. Throughout his career, he has held academic positions at the Royal Veterinary College in London, as well as universities in Liverpool, North Carolina, Iowa, Murdoch, and James Cook University in Australia. Dr. Carr is widely recognized for his expertise in production medicine, stockmanship, and biosecurity. He has authored numerous books on swine health and disorders, and he provides consultancy services to clients across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. In 2021, he joined the Apiam Animal Health swine team, where he continues to focus on education, training, and data analysis to improve herd health and production outcomes globally.
