Joaquín J. Sopena Juncosa is a distinguished veterinarian and academic who currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at CEU Cardenal Herrera University (UCH CEU) in Spain. He earned his degree and PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza, where he was recognized with the National Award for Completion of Studies and an Extraordinary Doctoral Prize. Throughout his career, he has held various leadership roles, including Director of the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Sopena is a specialist in animal medicine and surgery, with a particular focus on regenerative medicine, orthopedics, and skin surgery. He leads the BIOMED-SURGERY research group at UCH CEU and maintains a long-standing collaboration with the García Cugat Foundation for biomedical research. An active member of professional organizations such as the European Society of Veterinary Orthopaedics and Traumatology (ESVOT) and the Spanish Small Animal Veterinary Association (AVEPA), he has contributed extensively to the field through scientific publications, doctoral supervision, and the authorship of specialized veterinary textbooks.
