Joaquín J. Sopena Juncosa is a distinguished veterinarian and academic, currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at CEU Cardenal Herrera University (UCH CEU) in Spain. He earned his degree and PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza, where he was recognized with the National Award for Completion of Studies and the Extraordinary Doctoral Prize. His academic career has been primarily based at UCH CEU, where he has held various leadership roles, including Director of the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Sopena is a specialist in veterinary surgery, with a particular focus on surgical techniques, advanced applied therapies, and experimental surgery. He directs the BIOMED-SURGERY research group at UCH CEU, which focuses on regenerative medicine and applied surgery. Beyond his academic duties, he is an active contributor to the veterinary community, having authored and edited professional texts such as 'Clinical Cases of Skin Surgery' and collaborating with the García Cugat Foundation for biomedical research. He is also a member of prominent professional organizations, including the European Society of Veterinary Orthopaedics and Traumatology (ESVOT) and the Spanish Small Animal Veterinary Association (AVEPA).
