Dr. C. Guillermo Couto is a board-certified veterinary internist and oncologist with nearly 50 years of experience in clinical and comparative hematology, oncology, and clinical pathology. He is internationally recognized for his expertise in Greyhound and sighthound medicine, as well as his contributions to veterinary education as a coauthor of the widely used textbook, Small Animal Internal Medicine. Throughout his career, he has authored over 175 peer-reviewed scientific articles and more than 220 book chapters, establishing himself as a leading authority in the field. Currently, Dr. Couto operates Couto Veterinary Consultants, where he provides expert second opinions and clinical consultations for complex cases involving oncology, hematology, and transfusion medicine. He is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) with board certification in both Small Animal Internal Medicine and Oncology. He holds a DVM from the University of Buenos Aires and completed his oncology residency at the University of California, Davis.
