Deborah C. Silverstein, DVM, DACVECC, is a distinguished professor of Emergency and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. With over two decades of experience at the university, she serves as the Chief of the Section of Emergency and Critical Care at Ryan Veterinary Hospital and has held the role of Interim Hospital Director. Dr. Silverstein is a recognized leader in the field, known for her extensive contributions to veterinary education and clinical practice, including her work as a co-editor of the seminal textbook 'Small Animal Critical Care Medicine'. Her clinical and research interests focus on the diagnosis and management of circulatory shock, microcirculatory imaging, vasopressor therapy, and fluid therapy. Dr. Silverstein earned her DVM from the University of Georgia, completed a small-animal rotating internship at the same institution, and finished her residency in small animal emergency and critical care at the University of California, Davis. She is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DACVECC) and remains an active speaker and educator in both national and international veterinary forums.
