Dr. Christopher G. Byers is a dual board-certified veterinary specialist in emergency and critical care and small animal internal medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree as a University Honors Scholar in Animal Sciences from Colorado State University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University. Dr. Byers is a recognized international speaker, author, and a Certified Veterinary Journalist (CVJ). He is the author of several textbooks, including Feline Emergency & Critical Care Medicine and Canine Emergency & Critical Care Medicine, and is dedicated to advancing veterinary education through his work with various professional platforms. Throughout his career, Dr. Byers has held significant clinical and academic roles, including serving as the Director of Intensive Care at VCA Veterinary Referral Associates in Maryland. He has also contributed to academia as an Adjunct Professor at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and the Uniformed Services University. Currently based in Omaha, Nebraska, he is the founder of CriticalCareDVM.com, a resource designed to provide pet owners with accurate, comprehensive information to foster a collaborative triad of care between owners, primary care veterinarians, and specialists.
